Introduction to Meditation & Yogic Vision
What to Expect & How to Prepare
• Guided meditation (usually 30-45 mins): instructions & transmission, following the principle of vision. • Opening yogic vision, or sūkṣmadṛṣṭi: direct super-sensible experience of subtle bodies, energetic environment & spiritual presence. • For beginners & experienced practitioners alike. • Can be integrated into one's existing tradition & practice. • Experience-first approach; no precepts, fixed beliefs, or dogmas, only models that aid discernment of super-sensible experiences. • A shared practice space that one can come back to, further facilitating practice & experience. This is a Zoom-based Drop-in meditation class, running for approx. 90mins. Participants are introduced to a simple technique based on the instructions given in yogic texts: awareness "between the eyebrows." Further steps are elaborated which awaken direct awareness of subtle bodies, our energetic surrounds, and qualities of spiritual presence. Participants are also encouraged to explore & discuss their experiences. Behind this work is a living tradition & lineage of transmission. If you are already committed to a particular tradition or method, the foundational techniques passed on in this class can be integrated with any practice, helping to further deepen your existing connection. They do not require one to swear oaths, follow precepts or follow a fixed teaching. HOW TO PREPARE? Ideally, you will want to attend this session in a quiet room free from outside disturbances. Switch off phone & close messenger apps. Be set up & ready to practice sitting on the floor, with cushion(s) as needed. If you are unable to do so due to health, disability, or injury, a chair will still be perfectly fine. Wear loose fitting and/or comfortable clothes, preferably without overly lurid designs or patterns. Take off your wristwatch. Turn off ceiling fans & air conditioners (or put on the lowest possible fan setting, if you really cannot do without during the session). If possible, it is also good to light a candle. IMPORTANT: Please abstain from alcohol & other recreational substances for at least 24 hours before your session. Cancellation Policy
To cancel or reschedule a session, please get in touch at least 24 hours prior to the time of your appointment. Provided notice of cancellation is given on time, you will be refunded in full. If you do not notify me of your cancellation 24 hours before your appointment, the session will still be charged.
